ARTIST STATEMENT: "Our planet is invested with two great oceans; one visible, the other invisible; one underfoot, the other overhead; one entirely envelopes it, the other covers about two-thirds of its surface." Matthew F. Maury (1855) My work focuses on primal forces and elements; the beeswax medium is for me very suitable for exploring the correlation between oceans (and their evolving life), terrestrial vulcanism, and the surging cosmos. The male form has been inspirational to artists for millennia for its expressiveness, complexity, power and mix of strength and vulnerability.
