Matthew F. Maury (1855) My work focuses on primal forces and elements; the beeswax medium is for me very suitable for exploring the correlation between oceans (and their evolving life), terrestrial vulcanism, and the surging cosmos. The male form has been inspirational to artists for millennia for its expressiveness, complexity, power and mix of strength and vulnerability.
